Women of NASA Lego set in the works

Great news for space-loving Lego fans as Lego announces that the women of NASA will be honored by the iconic toy.

Lego solicited ideas for new sets, and 10,000 votes were necessary to consider making them. We’ll have to wait almost a year for the release, but here are the figures to be included:

  • Margaret Hamilton (developer of the on-board software for the Apollo mission craft);
  • Nancy Grace Roman (planner of the Hubble Space Telescope);
  • Mae Jemison (first African-American woman in space);
  • Katherine Johnson (mathematician who plotted trajectories for the moon landings); and
  • Sally Ride (the first American woman in space).

Here’s the official announcement video, which offers more information about submitting your ideas to Lego for consideration.
